Mergers & Acquisitions

THE PROJECT

Mergers and acquisitions can have an enormous impact on the future profits of any business involved and can quickly affect your company’s reputation. Fearey has deep experience with varying levels of mergers and acquisitions, and our team is skilled at customizing a strategy to address each unique situation.

Our team offers a variety of services to support companies through the M&A process, including:

  • Development of a soft-phase, pre-announcement strategy. This allows us to communicate on a need-to-know basis during the planning phase. This is a confidential program within the confides of the organization and occurs among the key strategic partners who need to know about the merger or acquisition. It helps you manage the process.
  • Creation of an audience map to help manage the timing and phases of work. From the outside looking in, we help you develop a program to communicate the M&A with your key stakeholders—from executives and staff, investors and beyond. We look externally at your business partners, vendors and suppliers. We also think further out and help you plan for the external announcement—working to get information in the hands of local business and community leaders, elected officials, labor leaders if the work force is unionized, consumers, and of course, the media and online influencers.
  • Defining your PR messaging. Well thought-out talking points are an essential part of the strategic planning process. While we need to create specific messages for varying levels of audiences, they need to be consistent in content and tone so there are no misunderstandings.
  • Counseling offered 24/7. We’ve been a part of numerous mergers and acquisitions over our 40+ year history. We realize this is not a normal business activity and so we offer our services on 24/7 basis. We become an extension of the team and talk to our clients at all hours of the day and night to ensure a successful outcome. A firm experienced with mergers and acquisitions can help you identify key communications issues, explain the strategic role of different forms of communications, develop the necessary messaging and presentations, and develop a timeline for distribution.

OUR RESULTS

Features

Since most of these dealings are confidential, we can’t talk specifics about the work involved. We can say that we’ve successfully concluded M&A work for companies including Bartell Drugs, Rite Aid, Tully’s Coffee, Green Mountain Coffee, Providence, Swedish, Clipper Vacations, Haggen, Top Foods, Center for Infectious Disease Research, Seattle Children’s Research Institute, Virginia Mason, Franciscan, and many more.

Performance

In October of 2020, KING 5 News reported that Rite Aid had purchased the 130-year-old Seattle-based Bartell Drugs chain for $95 million.
