Each Monday, we’re giving readers a chance to get to know the media a little better.
With a little flair.
Our goal is to give readers some insight into the work and work style of area journalists, and get to know a little bit about the person behind the byline. Start your week off with an online networking opportunity through our Media Monday blog post.
This Week: Jameson Fink, Foodista.com
Jameson Fink has been working in the wine industry and blogging about wine since 2004. Saveur Magazine nominated his site, jamesonfink.com, for a 2013 Best Food Blog Award in the Wine/Beer Category. He is a tireless advocate for year-round rosé consumption and enjoys a glass of Champagne alongside a bowl of popcorn.
Q: What’s your favorite story you’ve done in the last week?
A: Pairing wine with A.S. Byatt’s novel “Possession: A Romance”.
Q: What skills do new journalists need?
A: Be a thoughtful communicator: pay attention, show interest, ask questions.
Q: If you weren’t working at your current job, what would you be doing?
A: Getting a PhD in Literature.
Q: Finish this sentence: “A good PR person is …”
A: …someone who does their homework, demonstrating they’ve taken the time to get familiar with who you are and what you do.
Q: What hidden talent or skill do you have that viewers/readers don’t know about you?
A: Well as blogger I’m an open book when it comes to anything I have a shred of aptitude for. Nothing behind the curtain!
The PR Pro Takeaway: Jameson Fink is an established blogger and social media guru who is consistently engaging with the northwest community. His blog has received national attention which clearly makes him a pro in this space. Evidently Champagne and popcorn is just the right combination to inspire a food bloggers’ genius.
