If my first week at The Fearey Group was any indication for what’s to come, I know my internship will be exciting, worthwhile and engaging. From getting to know my fellow Fearey team members to diving right into projects for clients, I already feel ready to conquer more.
My name is Stella Heekin and I am the new production assistant here at The Fearey Group. I hold a degree in public relations from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) and kickstarted my career in the nonprofit, academia sectors. I am thrilled to join the team at The Fearey Group and expand on my skills.
When I first stepped into the bright, welcoming office a million thoughts were running through my head. I started reflecting on the reasons I chose to study public relations in college and ultimately pursue it as a career. Here are a few lessons I’ve learned in my first week that have already proven to be invaluable:
- Don’t be afraid to jump right in. On my second day, I was given the opportunity to work on some pertinent projects for several clients. It felt great to be an asset by supporting the team from the get-go.
- Collaboration is essential. Ask questions, learn by doing and bounce ideas from one another. Your team is there to help and who you can look to for leadership. There hasn’t been a moment where I’ve felt alone.
- Be fearless. My desk is situated squarely in front of the words, “Fearless, Authentic + Original.” I plan to walk into the office with this mindset every day. I’m eager to learn from each team member and understand all that it takes to expertly manage accounts, skillfully execute projects for clients and build impactful and meaningful relationships along the way.
Each day welcomes a new opportunity to grow, drink more coffee and try to learn the ever-changing ropes in the world of public relations.
It’s time to get started.
