Fearey Firsts: An Inside Look at a Fearey Group employee’s first day

It’s 11:11 a.m. on my first day at The Fearey Group and I’ve already had four meetings. Yes, four. They know how to get stuff done around here. It’s a welcome change from the usual first-day slump, where you sit at your desk awkwardly trying to look busy. The Fearey Group doesn’t believe in sitting around; they are about getting stuff done…ahead of schedule. They like to jump right in.

So let’s jump right in to who I am and why I work at The Fearey Group now. My name is Marya Purrington and I’m the newest Account Executive here. I graduated from Western Washington University (Go Vikings!) in 2012 with a degree in Public Relations and English. I’m a huge grammar nerd; I will talk nerdy with you any day…unless you like the Oxford Comma. I’m also a true Seattleite. I LOVE Seattle. I’ll talk anything Seattle, from public spaces to sports to transportation. I just love this city.

Why Fearey? I have pretty much wanted to work here since 2012. Fresh out of college, a friend I met over Twitter (hi @jessbartleson) invited me to a monthly social media networking event called #SMLunch. It was held at Frolik Kitchen + Cocktails at Motif Seattle. It was my first interaction with The Fearey Group. It was love at first sight. From there, I began attending #SMLunch all the time, meeting more Fearey staff and becoming more and more obsessed with the firm. The staff really seemed like a team. I made it a personal goal to work there.

And four years later, here I am! I am having trouble containing the amount of excitement I have about working here. I almost can’t even put into words how it feels to be sitting here at my desk, at The Fearey Group…it honestly feels like I’ve achieved a huge goal. But, this is just the beginning and I can’t wait to see how I grow here.

So, let’s get to know each other. Follow me on social media! I’m constantly sharing about Seattle, traveling, family, anything fluffy (if you have a dog, send me its picture please), Seattle sports, local news…everything, and I’d love to connect with you!

You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & LinkedIn. I’ll probably be oversharing about how ridiculously excited I am to be working here for the next couple of days, so be forewarned.
